HOLIDAY HOT BUTTERED RUM


This wonderfully warm beverage is a festive treat at any holiday gathering.




Preparation time: 15 min Cooking time: 6 min
Yield: 16 (1/4-cup) servings


1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup LAND O LAKESŪ Butter
2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
1 pint rum*
12 cups boiling water
Nutmeg


Combine sugar, brown sugar and butter in 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil and sugar is dissolved (6 to 8 minutes).

Stir cooked mixture into ice cream in large bowl; mix well. Store refrigerated up to 2 weeks.

For each serving, fill mug with 1/4 cup ice cream mixture, 1-ounce rum and 3/4 cup boiling water; sprinkle with nutmeg.

*Substitute 1/4 teaspoon rum extract per serving.

TIP: Mixture can be frozen up to 1 month.
