Need Book Help

I could use some input ladies. I started working on a altered board book some time back for my AKC doberman (son's dog). She's soooooo good and protective of me & the boys. Anyhow, while creating her book, the spine tore on this board book and I need input on how to fix it. It broke so badly that pages fell out ... guess the book was older than i thought. Anyhow, I have uploaded pictures in my gallery of altered art of the pages as they are right now. Several pages are still under construction, but I posted them anyway, so you could see what was going on ... or what will be placed on blank spots.

I could really use some input on embellishments and ideas, as well as repair ways. I had thought about repairing by running a ribbon up spine inside and adhering to back edges. Then to reinforce it .... run the ribbon on the inside of the book spine/creases in coordinating page colors.

HELP! Input in ALL areas is greatly appreciated and WELCOMED!
